Hiking Photo Session In Arkansas

Hiking in Arkansas will always hold a special place in my heart. I live in the beautifully unique Ozark Mountains where there are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed. Hiking is one of these. It's always a thrill to be able to hike AND do my job at the same time. I love that. This is one of those times.

Maeghan booked a session with me for her 21st birthday, and she specifically wanted to do the session at Petit Jean state park. She is from Texas, so she wanted to incorporate some Arkansas Ozark flare into her session. Of course, I was all for it! I drove to Petit Jean state park on the day of the session (about 2 hours from the Batesville area where I'm located), and the temperature just kept getting colder and colder. By the time I arrived at the Mather Lodge, it had started to spit snow. This was not the ideal day for a session. However, we both had very long drives and we had already rescheduled once. There was no way we were rescheduling again. I ate lunch at the lodge and then headed to the session spot; Bear Cave Trail.

We began the session when Maeghan arrived, and we had to make a couple of trips back to the vehicles to warm up. Her outfits included a summer dress with high heels and a long black dress with boots. Neither outfit was designed to be warn in the humid 27 degree weather in Arkansas where the frigid air seems to reach the bone. However, we pushed on through, and I am so glad we did. My favorite outfit ended up being one that she didn't plan for. Her long coat covering the summer dress with the black boots was only supposed to be for the sake of staying warm, but it was a whole vibe. Those shots ended up being my favorite!

Hiking sessions are so much fun! I am always up for an adventure in my beautiful Ozark Mountains. I hope to do many more of these kinds of sessions in the future. Enjoy the photos!
